Utoro Onsen
Utoro Onsen is the largest hot spring resort in Shiretoko. It offers a large selection of hotels and guesthouses, and many open-air onsen with view of the Sea of Okhotsk.
The iron- and sodium- containing brown hot spring water is unique to the Utoro Onsen.
“Yuuhidai no Yu” is a popular open-air onsen with a view of sunset over the Sea of Okhotsk.
Iwaobetsu Onsen
Located on a National Park where brown bears are spotted frequently, the wild three-story open-air onsen is managed by Hotel Chi no Hate, and open to the public for free. The onsen is closed during winter season.
Shari Onsen
Onsen with un-circulated, plant-derived organic matter containing hot spring water is open to non-hotel guests at some business hotels. There is a footbath at Hotel Grantia Shari Ekimae.
Unabetsu Onsen
The hotel offers room at reasonable rate. The hotel is popular among long-stay travelers and skiers at Unabetsu Ski Area. The onsen’s clear mild water is heated and un-circulated.
Kiyosato Onsen
Ryokuseiso
Natural onsen with un-circulated hot spring water. (Water is added to lower the water temperature to a temperature suitable for bathing.)
Ryokuseiso has 11 Japanese-style guest rooms, 7 Western-style guest rooms (Maximum capacity of 72 persons), a restaurant and a party hall.

Papas Land
Natural onsen with un-circulated hot spring water. (Water is heated to a temperature suitable for bathing.)
Papas Land is an onsen complex with a pottery and food processing workshop center, an indoor playground, a park-golf course and a restaurant “Papas.” There is an auto camping ground nearby. Craft and pottery classes and park golfing are available.

Midori no Yu
The 100% natural onsen with un-circulated hot spring water was opened in front of Midorimachi Station in 1999. Indoor bath has bathtubs with two different water temperatures.
It is a barrier-free onsen with wheel-chair accessible washroom and changing room, and a private “Omoiyari-buro” where seniors and people with disabilities can enjoy bath with their caretakers.

Kawakita Onsen
The open-air baths for women and men have been used since Kawakita Onsen was used for toji (hot spring cure). Milky water has a strong scent of hot spring compounds. The onsen is closed during winter season. The onsen is closed during summer under a bad road condition.
